Andrew DeVries has built a lovely outdoor gallery at his River Road, Middlefield property, which borders the West Branch of the Westfield River. Andrew’s work stretches over fields and into his newly renovated indoor gallery, which houses smaller sculpture, drawings and pastels. I’m lucky enough to have my own piece on the grounds–a lifesize bronze which I’ve rededicated to Andrew’s and my friend Elizabeth Janes, who passed away in February of this year. Andrew cast this for me many years ago, in his onsite bronze foundry. The grounds are lovely any time of year but especially dramatic in the fall. A word of advice: follow driving directions on Andrew’s website because a gps will lead you astray in the Berkshire Hills.
